Hi

We're scratching our noggins with this one.

The installation manual is fairly straightforward : download the drivers for red hat, and copy them to removable device - done

then create the RAID array - done

then boot up with red hat linux enterprise v5 dvd - done

then, here's where things gets hairy - you insert the usb stick and there's fairly a lot of going around in circles to get the software to recognize the disk image.

We're stuck at the 4th step for now, can't go forward until we load the correct driver.

SO.... is there anybody who've had experience (and luck) installing Linux with an Intel SRCSASRB Raid Controller?

Thanks!

Perhaps download the drivers for any of the LSI 8708 cards and see if the instructions are any different.

Intel say that they build their own cards, but mostly they are clones of LSI with rebranding. the current RB/WB/JV cards share th same platform (or most of it atleast) as the LSI 870x cards.

Hey, thanks for the suggestion.

I completely forgot about this thread :o

The problem, at the end, was the SATA CDRom.

The solution was to put the onboard SATA controller into "compatibility" mode so that it will emulate an IDE CD ROM - problem solved.

And, yes, you're correct on the LSI thing - Intel just rebranded it.
