The plastic was the reason I went with the Redmi Note 3 Pro - got the Global version. No issues with it other than the fact that it is 4mm or so taller than the normal Redmi Note 3 which makes it all but impossible to get covers/cases for it.

It's a great plastic. No squeaks like on my old Samsung. Also don't notice it with a cover on.

I am not dissing it because of the plastic - perhaps I should add that I got the Note 3 Pro Global for $12 more than a Note 2 Pro, which made more sense in my brain.

Check again? Or sideload it as an upgrade.
Rom should be downloadable from xiomi site.

Might have to - check returns nothing. MIUI upgraded to 8... Android is 4.4.4

Could you post a screenshot of your "About Phone" screen and what version you are currently running rom wise, think that is under the MIUI updater.
Can help you check

That's because you have the Redmi 2 and not the Redmi 2 pro... no Lollipop for it.

Where did you get yours from? All the other Pro models I know got the 5.1.1 update via OTA automatically, so it seems really odd that yours didn't.

Hoping the software upgrade fixes the bluetooth pairing issue.

I got mine from Takealot as well and it's on 5.1.1. Maybe see if they'll replace it.

Won't help if the new one also doesn't update.

If I look at http://www.gsmarena.com/ it doesn't list dark grey as a colour for the Redmi2 - not sure if it changed though.
