Well what do you like? Merlot, Pinotage, Cabernet Sauv, etc? Do you like a mix or do you prefer singles?
I usually go for either a Backsberg or a KWV, preferably 4-5 years back. For R200 you can go further. You can get a 2000 Roodeberg (defined but really nice taste) for a little less than that, or a 2003 Backsberg Cab. Sauv for around R100 (not totally sure about that price).

However, on a day like this, I would rather go with a nice bottle of sauvignon blanc - durbanville hills. Its easy drinking and not to expensive.

You making me lus now....
We haven't bought a lot of wine in the last two years (been depleting our stocks) and as such we have a few wines from 2001, 2003 and 2004/5... and each time I open a bottle it's a case of "here goes R100.... and there goes another" :D
Bought about 20-30 Graham Beck export wine (2005 Pinotage) in the beginning of the year for around R35 a bottle... it really is amazing.

I haven't had Durbanville Hills wine in a long time...

Its very easy drinking, but I can only speak of the Savignon blanc. I have a bottle of Tyne & Daly looking at me from a distance. Should I or should I not... lol!

On things Graham Beck ;) Ask about "The Joshua" A favourite Shiraz with a hint of Viognier. Damn I love that wine!
Should get some again - the lus is strong with this one! :D

1. Diemersfontein Pinotage - has coffee and chocolaty notes on the palate.

2. Kanonkop - I have not tried its wines yet, but I read that the owner of the wine estate just won the International Winemaker of the Year Ward 2008.

Area

Kanonkop Estate is situated on the lower slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain in the Stellenbosch Region of the Cape.

It is between Stellenbosch and Paarl on the R44 and falls in a ward called Simonsberg, more commonly known as the “red wine bowl” of South Africa. It has earned a reputation both at home and abroad as an area producing the best wines in the country.

Thanks S&B

Looks interesting that one will see if I can find it around here.
