If only I could demand to be resettled in a third country, say Finland. If I arrive at Vantaa International Airport in Helsinki without proper documentation and visa, I'll be sent packing, no questions asked. Looks like once you are in ZA, you have as much rights as tax-paying citizens. You even get a rental subsidy of R750. Then this happens:

I'm not even talking about just benefit fraud. How do you get into those countries anyway. For instance, Greenland. Here it is a matter of walking across the border, and then as soon as you're settled in a city, you've got rights.

To have your child become a French citizen, you only need to have your wife deliver while in France, even on a tourist visa. Then not only does your child get citizenship but the parents get permanent residence and they can get citizenship easily too (because of the child).

it ceases to amaze me how illegal immigrants can demand to be treated with the same respect as legitimate citizens, I pay tax and I am a law abiding, contributing citizen of this country, get the hell out of my country.

what about all the freedom fighters who died whilst attempting to remove the previous government, there we're no immigrants around then, but now that everything is free and fair they swoop in and share in the spoils, I can fully understand how someone can be well pissed at an illegal immigrant who was no where to be found when times were far harder!

Who are being given jobs, are receiving emergency treatment, are sending money back to their relatives, are not paying taxes, are running crime syndicates? It's an over-simplified statement, but 4.5 million illegal immigrants live in SA and enjoy benefits which our taxes pay for, live in low-cost accommodation, and take up jobs, then send much of their income back to their original countries, to pay for more people to come here.

This makes absolutely no sense, given that poverty an unemployment is such a huge problem for our own people.

thats bulldust, there are plenty of willing and able people(South Africans too) out there to fill all these vancancies 3 times over, these "foreigners" are leeching off us and abusing the services that we all pay for. They are not providing any solutions to this country, in fact they are a problem.

We should ship them all back, and build a nice big fence from indian ocean to atlantic, then get SANDF to patrol and solve this problem once and for all. We have enough problems here as it is without having to support the rest of war torn africa.

True. The foreigner set up a spaza shop where there was none, and gets chased away. Now there is still no spaza shop or anything other than locals sitting around and moaning about unemployment. As much as I dislike the thought of them leeching off our system, they don't 'steal' the jobs from the locals, they mostly do their own thing, which our own people don't.

Wrong. They are human beings just like you. They shouldn't be allowed to stay as they please though. And it's not 'your' country. It's a country, that you live in.

There may be cases where immigrants will working for lower wages than locals, but that's still not good for our economy, or for our people. Being willing to work for R5/hr, locked in a sweatshop in Jeppestown is not right either.

If we had poverty and unemployment under control, then I'd be happy to take on migrant workers. But with our current situation, this should not be as uncontrolled as it is.

Poverty and unemployment will never be under control, not while every poor person has 4 kids to feed...and in 16 years, the 4 will have another 2 or 3 to feed...

Breeding like rabbits, while not even able to feed themselves...

I'm not talking about sweatshops. I speak of car park guards for example. There is a demand for them, as they haven't been disbanded and there are companies making a buck off of them by selling them uniforms and business cards.
