Refund to Cancelled card

My previous card was cancelled as it was not working. A new card was issued but the number obviously has changed.

I requested a refund from an online retailer and they can only refund to the payment method used for the purchase.

Will the refund work even though the card was cancelled?

The plastic number (which is printed on the face of your card) is linked to a master account.

So the plastic number is relevant but not so much.

Yes it will work.
Even if the actual bank was closed they still get they money.

Had to fill in some form but fnb did get money to my active account.
