When I ordered ADSL back in Nov 2005 I asked for the self install option. I am in DBN and altho it wasnt supposed to be available here I asked anyways. The woman who took my order didnt say anything about it not being available to me.
Soooo. they finally install a whole new line (fone/DSL) on 16th Feb. Recently get my first bill and HELLO. I see a R404 charge for installation and a few other errors.
Off I go to Telkom and tell them I had ordered with the SI option so why the charge? Amazingly enough, when the woman checks my records on her PC she sees that I had SI. Great I thought, least theres a record of that.
Yesterday, they called me to say I can minus R404 from my bill and they will protect me from disconnection as the amounts on the bill and the amount I now have to pay are different.
Could it be that Telkom is feeling the pressure of consumer awareness/action and pending competition?
