Refurbished PowerColor 7970

For 500 rand more you can get a 280x with full warranty. I would not pay 3.3 for a refurbished card, maybe if the card was 1.5k yes but the saving isn't worth the risk in my opinion.

Mmmmmm

Wasn't aware they were selling for 3.8

The 280x is basically a rebranded 7970 right?

Isnt the 270x a rebranded 7870?

Try push for 280x or go for a 7950. Dont go refurb unless its a real bargain

indeed go for the 280x , they just re branded cards , 7970 is enough juice for bf4 with all the bells and whistles at full hd.

And it supports mantle :P

Note the 280X needs a 6 pin and 8 pin connector vs the 270X needs two 6 pin connectors.

270X is 7870 GE yes.

Go 280X and don't look back :D

The AMD R9 series then, in particular the 270X. It looks like an all new design, but basically this is a Radeon HD 7870 in disguise, it is powered by a Pitcarn GPU and runs roughly at the performance level of the Radeon HD 7950, which for the money is not bad thing alright.

Bang for buck the 270x looks a winner :D.

At least they put an 8 pin power cable in the powercolor bundle so it should not be an issue for most.

It's a good upgrade for my three year old PC. It's replacing a 5850. I have a 1st gen i5 so it suits it. If I got a 280X or even a 290X then I'd really have to replace everything.

I recently upgraded it to 6 GB RAM and a 60 GB SSD. My monitor is 1600x900 so it looks like I'd be able to do Ultra at 60 fps.

Note the 6 pin connector is for 75 W and the 8 pin is for 150 W as I understand it.

So just getting top of the range may trigger a PSU replacement ...
