Region Free DVD ROM

I was wondering if anyone knew of a make and model of a DVD Player for a PC that is region free. I am planning on setting up a media centre with a PC and before I have had issue's with DVD's only being able to change their region 5 times.

So in the same respect that you get region free DVD players I want to know if anyone out there knows of a region free DVD Rom.

Currently I use AnyDVD which is a software solution, however a hardware solution is always quicker and more stable.

It is getting harder and harder to flash the ROMs. The suppliers are making it deliberately hard. Not impossible but more rare. Best you can do is google for the model number and firmware of your ROM.

Another software solution is DVD43.. and it's free.

Hi Garyvdh, Thanks. I cannot find a ROM for my DVD to make it region free. Either they cannot hack it or it is too new and yet to be hacked or shall we say adjusted.

Would you rate DVD43 better/ the same in terms of effectiveness compared to AnyDVD. The app you have suggested is already winning from the fact it is free.

IF you can afford to buy AnyDVD I would highly recommend that program. It is excellent I can not give it enough praise to be honest with you
 
Buy an old model Creative 5x or Creative 6x DVD-ROM or an old Asus 5x DVD-ROM.
They are region free from the factory. I even have one at home somewhere. No need to flash anything. All DVD-ROM drives made prior to 2000 should be Region free from the factory.

I dunno. I've never used AnyDVD. DVD43 does the job for me... but it does interfere with one or two other programs. I only load it when I need it.
 
AnyDVD is just off the chain but they are quite whack as you need to purchase a new license for each new version.

I've got a Samsung/TSSCorp DVD-Rom. How would I go about checking it's multi-zone status?

Move to Australia... it is illegal to sell region locked DVD players/recorders in that country. Unfortunately we do not have that legislation, but good to see certain parts of the world are rebelling and are not being ostracised for doing so.
 
i would say stay with anydvd...

...now although its not free, they is an update about every week or 2, so you never get passed using up the 30day trail
