Registration, licensing and on the road

What is a reasonable cost charged for registration, licensing and on the road costs. My wife is in the process of purchasing a new vehicle and the quote shows R6,536-80 for these costs.

I feel this is way too much and would really appreciate some feedback in this regard.

It's just another way that the dealer can enhance his profits.
My advice is to make a "off-the-floor" price offer and stick to it.

Don't buy into extended warranty programs. The CPA covers defects for six months.

I also feel they are making extra profit here. They claim that they are giving her such a nice discount, only to add it back with these fees.

That is more or less the going rate, the greatest weapon you have is making them an offer and walking away.

Let them give you a breakdown of the costs and make a counter offer, R2000 for registration and number plates, look at the fuel gauge and give them their petrol money, add a little something for the car wash and that's it.
