Regular ADSL Disconnects

I have noticed that certain ADSL accounts that I'm responsible for die on a regular basis with a "Port Error". The timing varies a little, but more often than not the port error occurs after either 6min 10sec or 7min 11sec. I initially assumed it was a line fault, but the Telkom line test guys said there was nothing wrong.

The line reconnects as soon as it goes down, but will then disconnect again within the same amount on time.

These disconnects will last for a day or two or three on a specific line, then be fine again for a while. This problem is driving me (and my clients) crazy.

It seems very strange that the line drops with such regularity. Does anybody have any idea what might be causing this?

I'm getting the same in rivonia, JHB. Where are you ?

I do however see many telkom trucks working in the manholes along 12th Avenue in Rivonia.

That 'port error' you are referring to.. are you with Verizon by any chance ? I see the same and I'm on Verizon.

rofl . .good old telkom..

when they check your DSL line they jsut checking if the line is syncing..

the problem is at your dslam in your exhange..
what u need to do is ask for a ADSL port reset..
that should sort your problems out...

u c your adsl port is getting it self all confused.
and need to be set straight..

p.s dont let telkom go thru the troubleshooting with u..
tune no you want a port reset done..

oh another things... sometime soon this year.. the ISP will have access to thous systems of telkom.
and they will be able to do it for u. until thats happens u will have to phone telkom all the time.

did you ever ask telkom to check the exchange server for hardware or software issues

inuyashaa did u even read my post before posting..????

the issue he is having is a software/hardware problem on his assianged port on the dslam..

like i said above phone telkom and ask for a DAM ADSL PORT RESET!!!!
that will resest the port where your adls conencts to the dslam...
and your line should be fine after that...

Update

@magneto:
Thanks for the suggestion. Will get Telkom to reset the port and hopefully that will sort it out. Just haven't felt like listening to their irritating 10-year-old hold music AGAIN. You'd think a company that makes BILLIONS in profits would be able to afford licensing for decent bloody hold music.

@mangoman:
Not in jhb - cpt. I have a gut feeling that magneto's suggestion withh sort it though.

Thanks for feedback guys.
