You know that you've hit a new low when you have been rejected by Telkom :wtf:

Got to put this out there.

Applied online for a new cellphone contract from Telkom yesterday (phone is only about R269 / month).
Get a call from a consultant to confirm my application.
Says she has to first do a quick credit check.
Hold for a few minutes.
Comes back and says you do not "meet our minimum credit requirement"
WTF! I ask her to give a reason why.
She tells me to call this number and ask them why. Gives me the number for TransUnion.
I call TransUnion you is even more confused as I have a 10 /10 credit rating.
Tried to call Telkom back which as everyone knows is well impossible.

And on top of this, I've had a Telkom account for over 15 years and being paying them far more than the value
of the cellphone contract every month.

Now I must go into a Telkom shop to smack someone.

So much for the "new" Telkom :erm:

Telkom does check on 2 credit bureaus. CreditExpert(Mostly they use this one) and TransUnion.
Your score on TransUnion need to be above 730 and CreditExpert above 3/5.
Spare income should be R1000-R1500+ after expense.

I recommend going on https://www.creditexpert.co.za/ and pull your free report. It might be some old account never update for months. If so, create a dispute.

That's a perfect score.
Someone at Telkom really do need a smack.
My sisters contract approved last week with way less score then yours.

Fun and games continue.

Contract approved after I proved my credit worthiness.

Picked up phone. Get home and discover they gave me a micro SIM when my phone only supports a nano SIM. Back to Telkom shop.

They cannot give me another SIM as my old number is still in being ported. Till then I must wait ....

I had a tenant who applied for a telephone using my name and ID no, back in 2003. Naturally enough he did not pay the bill. 3 years after he left I get a letter from these lawyers asking for R23k. Upon enquiring, I discovered what had occurred. Despite asking more than 10 times for sight of the signed application, they would not send it (because it did not exist) or acknowledge they had made an error

Next thing I am blacklisted on Experian and ITC for this. I asked the lawyers for a day in court, but they ignored it. Upon asking for proof that I owed what they were demanding, they either put down the phone or ignored emails

The blacklisting has been renewed by them twice since 2010

Unbelievable.

The Telkom store managed to stuff up my number porting as well :erm:

Telkom somehow manage to f%C[< everything up on a consistent basis. I was told that I could transition over on a particular date -never happened. Then they had some or other problem and said they would call me back. Never called me. Then I found out that my credit whatever had to be approved manually. Another 3 days. Now I go it collect my SIM and phone, but now I see they've given me a new number when UI told everyone I spoke to multiple times that I wanted to transfer my number. F#x?K-upz each and every one of them. It's like they're sourcing their customer service staff from Hungry Lion rejects.

Tomorrow will be 1 week since I picked up my phone.

Have not been able to start using my contract yet since they they gave me the wrong SIM card (but I'm paying for it).

My old number has not been ported yet. Was told it would take 24 hours.

Even after getting Facebook PR person involved.

Useless bunch of ****s.

Funny, I get the opposite treatment from them.....and FNB, for that matter. They just want to give more and more.
I mean, just one glance at my pay slip, or bank statement should tell them that I can't afford any more. Some warning bells and red lights should go off. But they want me to take out another contract and get an over draft and push my crdit limit. WTF.
Even with all the debt I have, I still have an impecable credit rating.

Go speak to the manager of the store and he will push your application through.. he has admin rights to approve your contract regardless of status
