I have a 2GB Telkom ADSL account. My total downloads and uploads for December are about 3GB now. There are a few large files (total about 1.5GB) which I would still like to download this month, but I don't want to be capped.

I thought, to avoid being capped, I would download the files on the last day of the month. Because I am already over my cap, I am just worried that I will be capped before the last day of the month, preventing me from downloading the files.

Then I thought, to ensure that I can download the files this month, I will download the files now. But I would like to avoid being capped at all costs. Do I have a greater chance of being capped if I download the files now (going further over my limit) or does everyone over their limit get capped once the total ADSL usage goes over a certain amount?

Most users reported getting around 5-6gigs at least.. before getting hard-capped. So if you have just reached your 3gig limit. u can pull another 3gig still..

Wait until the next reset, or reset your router now. and just get the stuff u want..

I was capped at 6.5GB last month on my second account. First account I really got no idea, I think around 18GB, but I downloaded more during the last session.

I usually got around 10GB, the 6.5GB on my second account was strange for being so low, and the 18GB was rather strange for being high so :) weird month last month. :D

Aren't Telkom out to get those guys going over their cap?

Out to get them? You make it sound like it's a crime to go over your cap. If they don't cap you when you are over your limit, that's their problem. It's called relaxed capping - they don't cap users who are over their limit until the total data usage of all ADSL users has gone over a certain amount.

Its more Telkom that reacted like it is a crime.

Telkom has yet to actually do anything to anyone, so I would say no
