Relocating to George

The level of ignorance of posts is mind boggling.

I'm not even attempting to correct these totally stupid and profound statements for instance:
The current level of the Garden Route dam is 95% and water restrictions are in place because there is intention to supply water where it is needed in other areas.

The first prize for ignorance must go to Moosedrol (see what I did there!).
George is the only area where hops is cultivated. It produces the most blueberries in South Africa. The Head Office of Data Dot, Tékkie Town and famous golf courses are in the area.

The local flying school attracts pupils from all over the world, especially China.

Whilst tourism is a big revenue spinner it produces revenue throughout the year.

So my message to you is: Bly Noord en f0k voort

A small but a useful little clip of information; With a vehicle park of >100,000 there are no parking meters in George.
Yes we past the hops plantations on our way back from George in December, quite impressive!

And the blueberry plantations are equally impressive

I think the actual figure is 50 + families per month relocating to here. Salaries very low. Housing is scarce and very expensive. Unfortunately crime is also rising, but I suppose it's better than in larger cities. Quality of living is high and it is very beautiful and slow paced.

That's your clincher? Parking?

Wanna know why there's so much parking? for the influx of tourists during easter and december. that's why, and that's all. Not because they cater for their locals.

I think that there is somewhat of a misunderstanding here.
By vehicle park is meant the number of vehicles in a town/city. By the way George is classified as a city.
What makes George unique is the fact that all other places in SA that is the same size as George and some a lot smaller have parking meters.

Moved to jhb in 84' from Zim, never been truly comfortable here, and with the crime getting out of control and with the opportunity to move I am very excited to relocate.
Ah! That makes all the difference, even though I hate George with a passion I'd move there in a heartbeat to escape from Gauteng. At least it's still Western Cape.

My aunt has a guest house in George. Planning on going there at some point this year maybe

My post was to dispel the misconceptions of George and not as a resident. A resident did make a contribution.

There is not a job/opportunity for all to relocate and do whatever they do wherever they are. A guy selling boats will have to sell something else should he decide at live in the desert.

From my investigations you have to be an entrepreneur or a professional to make money if you want to live there and make serious loot. There are many who reside in George and have their business somewhere else. I know of Insurance brokers, owners of dealerships spread throughout the country, and guys who head up large corporations that live there.

Having said that I was once told, in jest of course, If you want to leave Gorge with a small fortune, you must arrive with a large one!
Many who who have moved there have seen their gat
