Hi all, I will be relocating to George in March or April, anyone on here from George?

I will be starting a business there which I think will be better than trying to find employment haha, jobs are scarce and so are rentals!

Apparently the fastest growing town in SA, something like 16 or so families moving there a month

Any thoughts or comments

Cheers

Take a water tank with you, probably need it around that time.

Condolences, I've seen George, I would love it if I never need to see it again, ever. Rarely has a town bored me to tears so quickly.

Eh? George shouldn't have a water problem, the highest average annual rainfall in the entire country ...

Beautiful town, scenery and weather. Nice place to stay if you have a business in Gauteng. Salaries low compared to high cost of living.

George Municipality - level 2B

Seems they still have some water left :P

CAW stands for cold and wet.

Other than that I love George for holidays. Very chilled place. I like the Saturday markets in the area. Great food.

Can't comment on business activity. Good luck either way.

George? Er. There's no jobs for a reason buddy.

What kind of business?

Ya im not moving there for the nightlife haha, nor the hustle and bustle, it may be an interim move before we go overseas, if we cant make it work that is, exciting times.....

Moved to jhb in 84' from Zim, never been truly comfortable here, and with the crime getting out of control and with the opportunity to move I am very excited to relocate.

Those towns (George, Hartenbos, Mosselbay, Plet, Knysna, etc...) generate their yearly income through Christmas and Easter time. Out of those times they are deader than dead. The only work there is tourism and during the time Petro SA (Mossgas) is doing shutdown for maintenance.

The level of ignorance of posts is mind boggling.

I'm not even attempting to correct these totally stupid and profound statements for instance:
The current level of the Garden Route dam is 95% and water restrictions are in place because there is intention to supply water where it is needed in other areas.

The first prize for ignorance must go to Moosedrol (see what I did there!).
George is the only area where hops is cultivated. It produces the most blueberries in South Africa. The Head Office of Data Dot, Tékkie Town and famous golf courses are in the area.
http://www.gardenrouteeyeclinic.co.za/about/surgical-centre Respected internationally!
The local flying school attracts pupils from all over the world, especially China.

Whilst tourism is a big revenue spinner it produces revenue throughout the year.

So my message to you is: Bly Noord en f0k voort

A small but a useful little clip of information; With a vehicle park of >100,000 there are no parking meters in George.

Wow, I wish I could have that where I live. I love peace and quiet so wouldn't mind moving there.

Then get me a job there as a Vmware sysadmin.

I have a few ideas, one of them is a storage business, the other is aquaculture to grow certain veggies/herbs/spices

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED

Well then all the old folks there will definitely buy from you. Just focus on edibles, their lungs can't take a vape/joint

That's your clincher? Parking?

Wanna know why there's so much parking? for the influx of tourists during easter and december. that's why, and that's all. Not because they cater for their locals.
