Hey, if I chop out part of a track, make my own mix with it, then upload it to YouTube (with no intention to make any money off it), is this treading on dodgy ground with regards to getting sued etc.?

Depends if anyone recognises it. YouTube is pretty universal and there are thousands of uploads each day, so unless yours is extra-ordinary for some reason, no-one will notice.
 
They will recognise it. I mean a remix of a song like you get Song Name (dj cookie remix)

Yes, I would think so. Remember, its not only money, we talking fame as well. Imagine your mix on Youtube goes viral and Pooky becomes a household name world wide. :eek:
