I bought a TV card a few years ago that came with a remoe control and IR extender thing to plug at the back.

I've never used this stuff - but am starting to wonder if it's possible to use it to turn the PC on and off?

Is there a IR program link that anyone knows?

You can't switch on your PC unless your motherboard supports it but you can resume/suspend your PC. I had the MCE remote but on windows it's functions can't be changed and will require hacking to change functions(I tried this but had no success on Vista), on kubuntu linux I configured my remote to control Mythtv, Amarok, switch off the PC all by using irKick, very nice program.

I'll check up on that program - thanks

I might be able to help you with that.:)

How?

I have an XP Box, running Media Portal, with an MCE Remote which I can control, power-wise with the remote...

Nifty stuff! (Needed to enable "Wake on USB" related options in Bios)
