Remote Desktop Support

I found an application called VNCScan. Seems like it does what i need it to.
It scans for PC's within a network range and i can do a silent install on the computers i choose.

And is it easy to manage a few hundred clients? As in if John Doe calls me will i be able to connect to him without knowing his IP address of without knowing his PC name off hand?

You use GPO to display the IP address, computer and username in a small block on the desktop so the user can just tell you.

Teamviewer can be used over a lan , check under options and make sure incoming lan connections is enabled , when you deploy via gpo make sure that you have saved your tmv reg settins in the same folder as the install msi so that it can inherit those settings ie:the incoming lan connections as well as the password you will use to connect , teamviewer is the best I have used , no hassle's easy to install ,manage etc etc

How about being a bit more constructive in your post. Do you have any suggestions?

While hunting for some linux related stuff of a similar nature this morning I came across two interesting opensource tools for windows, opsie & uranos.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opsi_(open_pc_server_integration)
http://www.opsi.org/en
http://uranos.sourceforge.net/www/index.php?loadsub=quwiki&func=wiki&type=index

So if you are on a tight budget consider having a look at these and playing around with them in a lab/test bench environment.

What is the best Remote Desktop application for supporting +/- 200-300 users.
Needs to have an easy installer or an unattended installer.

Any ideas welcome :).

You should check RHUB remote support appliance http://www.rhubcom.com/. It works in LAN without internet access.
Bomgar also works for your case. But it is pricy. RHUB is about 1k. Bomgar is 2k+ license fee.

Guess i should also mention that most of the computers do not have internet access.
This is proving to be a problem with Team Viewer as its constantly complaining about not having internet access :-/.

What Wong said is most of the way there...to get it stop moaning about the internet bit...Extras > Options > Incoming LAN connections > accept exclusively...this stops it from trying to register on the web.
