:mad:I seem to have installed Ask on my Firefox and want to get rid of it. Not keen on downloading more programmers to do this. Any advice?

Have a look at Tools>Add-ons
You might be able to disable it there

I hate all those extra toolbars that come with freeware software. drives me nuts

I wouldn't download anything from Cnet. It comes with its own bloatware. So you are effectively exchanging one problem for another.

They put all their crap on other downloads. Avast's stuff on CNET is the real deal (no download manager - installing adware and all). But you right, CNET is bull shiat.

I have installed so many free ware and I don't have this problem. People just click next, next, next and done. There are always a tick box to stop them installing :0

That's what I do, too. Always read and be sure of what will be installed. But the number of "spammy applications" that come with these freeware software now days is shocking....most installers I have used have had like 4 - 5 different ones.

:)Thanks again to all but I have managed to solve it with a bit of luck.
