Can someone please guide me through this process? I can't seem to get used to Windows 7 as much as I try. Have a Windows XP cd. Do I just pop it in and it will install itself? Files are backed up, just need to switch to the older OS.

just stay with it, i was also one of those guys that clung onto xp for dear life but you can only flog that horse for so long.
7 is an awesome os, i found it very easy to get used to coming from a linux/xp background.
i run seven on my main machine and primary laptop but i still keep an xp partition on my secondary box and i have my trusty xp thinkpad :)

What specs do you have on your machine?

I second that. I was one of those that went out and spent money on Vista only to reload my old XP. Win 7 is far superior and well worth sticking with and getting used to.

You can install XP, but make sure your hardware has the appropriate XP device support. Check the manufacturer's website for XP drivers.

When I first tested out Vista I formatted and reloaded XP, not so with Win 7, finally found a replacement for XP.

@OP : Do you want to install XP on a new laptop or PC?

If you really want to install XP back on.. I like many people above, won't advise, you will have to change the boot setting in the Bios screen to your CD/DVD rom

And then upon restart, place the XP disc in...

Then it will load the disc and say

"Press any key to load from CD"

then just press..

and then just follow the instructions like formatting it etc etc..

My friend also hates window 7.. Don't know.. But then he changed his computer so it feels like "XP" like.. and now he says it's not as bad as I think..

but anyway.. have fun formatting...
