Hi gents,

Tell me what you think of the Renault Captur, specifically the expression 0.9T model?

Additionally, does anyone know the build quality of the vehicle? Also how much a service will be (if it would be out of plan), how difficult it is to get parts into the country, and how expensive are the parts (compared to VW Golf)?

Kind regards,
Roobs

It's a nice car, and very well specced. It is a little small though. While the ew Clio is a lot bigger than the ild one, it is still a b segment/super mini car.

The build quality was decent. I 'm not a fan of the 2 tone colours on the high spec model though. I don't know is anyone has had one serviced yet, it only came out a few months ago.

Yeah I definately do not want a two tone car. Thats why I prefer the expression, single tone white with anti-smash-n-grab tint. Funny enough, the expression has a few of features the Clio Dynamique has as optional, such as climate control, rear parking assist and hill start assist. Going to start the financing and check what kind of deal I get as trade in etc.

Good car; good spec; good service plan. Only potential issue leveled is at that 0.9L motor in the lighter Clio; in the heavier Captur may need some stirring of the 'box.

Great car from Renault an alternative to the rough & tough; though unrefined; Duster.

The same 0.9T motor is also in the even smaller Sandero.
The Clio has a 0.8T motor also

French car parts are expensive, when **** goes wrong you pay big, if not in warranty. If in warranty, waiting for parts becomes a problem.
The car does look nicer than the ordinary bunch, but in my experience Japanese or German are way more reliable, while with Japanese you get a lot better kit standard.

I will deffo prefer to have the car in a full 5 year warranty and maintenance plan for during that peroid. And "hopefully", have the car paid off by then. How terrible is the wait for parts? I had to wait a week for VW to get/supply a bumper for my car.

It leads me to believe it must be a good/okay motor - if they put it in three of their vehicles. What do you gents think of 5 year warranty and the engine in three vehicles?

Ah, so you had quick service? Well, the French ain't that quick.

If you plan to just keep it when is has warranty and maintenance plan, then fine. I myself don't want a little turbo engine because I'm likely to keep it 8 to 10 years (and I'm sure they wont give me a turbo warranty like that), so I'd look for a small SUV with a naturally aspirated petrol engine myself.

Went to go check it out today at the dealership - must say I am impressed. :O

I've never had an issue with parts for Renault. A compartment cover took a week to be imported from France - that's a part that should never need replacement but was missing when I bought the car.

Not once have I had to wait for a consumable part and if it did need to be ordered, it took a week max.

At Renault Bryanston, it took a day for a service. And the after sales service there is excellent

I used to run a Saab 9-5 Aero, and a Toyota Verso. Guess which one took longer to get parts?

I actually wrote a comparison between the EcoSport, Captur and Cactus. IMO if you buy the Captur is the better one, provided you sell it when the warranty lapses. Not a big fan of it's over boost ability though

Hi Jonnie, would you please share the comparison on this thread? I would enjoy the read from a local.

Why sell before the warranty lapses? What do you base this on? Personal experience or from a friend of a friend and on what car and when did an issue happen?

I'm on my 4th Renault currently, and I also never had to wait for service parts.
Only ordered item from France was a replacement key card, and that took a week. The actual key was pre-cut in factory and worked flawlessly first time, had to wait 10min to get them program the card to my car.

Even when my wife was in a accident, all the OEM replacement parts was available for front-end/suspension for Clio 2.

Service parts are on par or even cheaper compared to friends Toyota, Ford and Honda.

I have a feeling the Renault Captur will be a good car for my town driving. Does anyone else know of someone that has one / know of any issues that they have with the vehicle?
