Probably not a very interesting post, but I just get so irritated when this happens.

A good friend of mine has a 2013 Clio 0.9 TCE - 70k km

She was driving home the other day and her start stop was giving her issues, the car eventually cuts out and won't restart for a minute or so and she hears a hissing sound.

So she then drives it to work the next morning and realizes the A/C is not working (hissing sound = gas leak I assume)

Anyways so they tell her the battery was low, hence the start / stop issues (this doesn't make all that much sense to me, as the OBC will monitor the battery and not engage start / stop if it's low, but I could be wrong)

Here's the part that really p*sses me off -

They tell her that she must go and have the aircon regassed...

They didn't even check for leaks!!!!!!! They didn't check the pressures, high / low, nothing!

They tell her "Your mileage is consistent with a regas" - that's not how aircon works!

Just frustrates me that these guys see a woman coming and think they can pull the wool over their eyes, either that, or they have the most utterly untrained staff I am yet to see...

well they have to make money somehow:crylaugh:

but seriously, dealerships are sharks, they will do anything, and say anything to pay for those nice facilities.....

Renault is not covering itself in glory..., it's now a couple of stories I've had about the stop/start issue, a friend of mine also had a persistent water leak on his brand new Clio which he later traded in after the leak could not be fixed.

can't fix a leak?!?!?

Isn't 70K still under motorplan? They should have regassed it for her free of charge.

I don't know, that's what the owner said, apparently it would appear fixed today and after some time the car loses coolant again after some time, send it back to Renault and after they've fixed it the problem will reappear again until he got tired and opted to trade the car for a Polo.

Yes, but regassing the aircon is not going to solve the issue, aircon gas does not expire or stop working, unless there is a leak in the system, which they didn't even test for. Absolutely terrible customer service.

Battery might have issues if she drives very small distances.
My wife have the same issue with her hybrid Jazz. She doesn't drive far enough to recharge the battery, so we put it on the charger once a week to prevent issues.

I recently had my Clio 4 expression serviced at Renault Fourways, and left there very impressed with the service I got.
Having just recently moved here, I'm very glad I chose them. I have also read some very scary stories about dismal servicing.

I had an aircon that was just not as cold anymore.
Took it for aircon regas. The gent explained lots to me....(give me a PC, that I can understand, a car's internals are greek).

Long story short. He regassed while adding a lumo yellow substance. I then had to drive for X number of days and then go back. The yellow die showed him where to fix, and then topped up the gas.

place is near builders wharehouse on hendrik potgieter, bit of a drive but the gent's work was highly recommended by others.

I have found that the easiest way to get around these dismissive feedback issues:

Ask the dealership to put their findings and recommendations on an official letterhead. Doesn't matter what your gender is - this will almost always guarantee you a proper investigation and response. Still ask for it on an official letterhead thereafter, though, even if your issue was sorted.
