What procedure should I follow to get my Drivers License renewed? I live in Pretoria (Menlyn Area). I'm new to PTA, so I have no clue as to where to go :)

Thanks...

what about Centurion licensing department ?

Take Nellmapius - continue past Southdowns shopping mall - past Kentron.

At 1st robot turn right.

mmm, that sounds like an idea. Does it cost anything? And what documents do I need to take with me?

Procedure is quite simple, take 4 photos with you, and fill out the form. You have to do the whole finger print and eye test thing again. Submit your forms and get your temporary license.

I did at Midrand recently and it took me less than 45 minutes. I would suggest getting up bright and early to beat the lines.;)

Can you get the eye test done before hand at a specsavers or optician?

yep - it helps if the person doing the test is good looking :D

they will give you a form stating that the Mk I eyeballs are functioning

Nope, there is a specific patern that they use, and they "quiz" you on it. It is just saying where the spotted block is.

if you can, try find a satellite licencing department. sppeds up the process a lot more.

If you have bi-focals, you might have a hassle with the eye testing...I had to physicly "move" my glasses up and down to actually see the "E"...You got a little lever that you have to shift in the direction of the 3 "stripes" of the letter E

mmm, can they take my foto there, or should I take some with me? If so, where can I get these photos from?

Our licences expired - we went to an optician for an eye test, and got an certificate with the results on.

When the eye test at the test centre was due, the examiners simply transferred the optician's test results from the certificate to our paperwork.

So it is possible.

Does an optician charge you for a eye test, or is it free?

Sorry for the tripple post. I just heard from a Colleague that there is a place somewhere in Lynnwood Road, close to the Lynnridge shopping Mall, or something like that. Does anyone know?
