Renewing Drivers License

OMW.. I'm so frustrated now.. Drove all the way to Rayton to do my renewal there. When I arrived, I stood at the back of the Queue, with about 30 people infront of me. Then a second line was created, by people applying for their drivers licence/learners.

What happens now is, they take 7 people from Queue A, and 7 people from Queue B, and it takes about 5min per person,so that equals 1hour to move up 7 places in my Queue. So I just ****ing left! Ow, and to make things worse, they only take 40 people per day, OMG!!! These stupid baboons!!!
 
you need to go way early, and photo's are taken at most licensing places, Raytons guy hides , because he has no permanent shop

Does anyone know what the procedure is for a replacement licence? Do you need to do the photos and eye test bit, or can you just fill in the form and pay?
 
You need to do it all over again, like you're renewing, but you also need an affidavit stating your other license was lost/stolen.
 
Does someone know of another traffic office where I can go and renew my license? Why is it that this is such a mission, goverment should simply this, ffs! in Australia you walk in, you dont even have to complete a form, and they give you your new license there and then!

We went to a optomitrist in WestGate more 3 years ago to renew our Drivers Licenses. They test your eyes and you fill in the paperwork and a short while later we got our cards
 
Has anyone been to Ottery/Hillstar lately? I need to get a replacement licence, and I'm dreading it. My other option is Gallows Hill, but I think that's probably worse.
 
In Durban, the following is required.

4 x ID photo's (black and white)
Eye Test (can be done at testing grounds or a certifified opto)
Finger prints (testing grounds)
R165
1-2 days to waste standing in queues!

and a sense of humour, as you will be dealing with the most incompetent people in the country. Com on really, does it really tak 15min to type in a license number? This werker was hen pecking one key at a time, would then hit print and walk offf, come back 5min later and then take another 5min to take you cash. I stood in a queue at the pay point for 2 hours... the queue was 14 people long!
 
EchoZA : you're missing out one thing, if you're getting a replacement license, you need an affadavit from the policie....

But yeah, I've done the deed in Durban (Rossburgh) a few toooo many times for my liking... get there at 6:30 (before they open the gates).. try get to front of the queue and hope for the best really.

Are you sure? The traffic department doesn't say anything about that online (not that that proves anything - in various places they say you just need the normal form; then that you need form TDL, then that you need form DTC. So I'm pretty lost anyway). I'm not doubting you - just hoping against hope that you're wrong :(
 
I've unfortunately had my license stolen twice.....

First time I went without an affadavit and had to leave and come back with one....
Second time I had one handy, just in case, and they did want it....

Getting an affadavit is easy, the cops will do it quickly at your local station.
 
@Fanix, you should also try Watloo. I think they are better. I did my learners there, no hassle.
For the photos, just go to any Qphoto, don't forget B&W only!

Darn. They do say you can renew any time before your licence expires... do you think I could just renew 3 years early? :D
 
You can... but of course your new license is only valid for 5 years.. BUT i think they require you to present your "current" license when you renew....
