Renting and Telkom lines

Ok, so I'm moving to Cape Town and I am going to rent a house.

I want to get ADSL and I need to know what the easiest and quickest option is.

Do I :

1: Transfer the existing line at the house in to my name
2: Get a new line at the house in my name
3: Transfer my number from JHB to the new place (is this possible ?)

The current tenant has vacated the property and I assume that the line was in her name, they also had ADSL.

1. Transfer will cost you ~R500 and will take just about the same time. So no... dont transfer.
2. Yes. Order a new line. Do it from Joburg now... they take about three weeks to get their **** together. So get "in the queue" asap.
3. When you order the line, get Closer 1 (R125/month), this will waive the R450 installation cost of the new line at your premises. Then once installed, cancel closer 1.
4. Cannot transfer 011 to 021, so you'll have a new number.
5. Also order ADSL on that line at the same time. BE SURE TO TICK SELF-INSTALL. (Im sure you are intelligent enough to plug in your own microfilter and save R500)

All in all... You can get going for your normal line rental plus the R125 for the "Closer" pa

Just need some info
1.Is there a cancellation fee for closer 1? (but I can ask that when I'm at the store and apply for it)
2.When ordering ADSL, do you order it at the shop again(hence why one must tick self-install) or do you contact the call centre?

Any news on this, I am curious as to the cancellation fee for the closer package. As I've just spent R400 and R600 respectively for Telkom to install a telephone line and ADSL. I actually installed the ADSL myself, the technician just watched me get running with Afrihost while I set up the router (private router DSL-2760U).. I am sure I am entitled to getting my installation fee for ADSL back!!

Actually not. Takes a few days here in the Cape and not weeks.

Doubt your going to come right as you had to request a self install. The fact that a techie pitched up is enough to warrant the ADSL install charges.
