Renting out a scooter on Uber Eats

Hi all. I have a scooter that I am not using quite a lot anymore and I have been contemplating renting it out for Uber Eats or Bolt Food. Is there anyone who can advise what this would entail?

I don't think getting someone to rent it will be a problem. Obviously, I would have to do minor background checks, make sure they have the relevant license, and get better insurance on the scooter. A contract would also be necessary - anything specific I should include in there? I have a family member who is a lawyer, so I can sort out the contract through her if needs be.

The scooter is paid off and currently mostly just standing still. I don't want to sell it, because I think I am going to lose too much money and in the same breath, I want to try and get some forms of passive income going.

Looking forward to reading what you think about the idea.
 
Good idea but you’ll probably be having a lot of insurance claims. So maybe not such a good idea.
 
Find a guy who is registered on these platforms. Then, your bike needs to be registered also. Every week you can determine a “check-in” amount with your driver, i.e. how much they pay you. From what I’ve seen with deliveries, a fair amount is between R800 and R1100 a week.

I also have a scooter- just lying around.

If its insured then why not?

I paid R12k for an automatic BigBoy scooter thats not being used. R800 a week (Maybe R600 after insurance etc)- seems very tidy.

Do you know if there any companies handle everything? Like the insurance, communicating with the driver etc?

You insurance will likely not cover this kind of arrangement will need to be under business insurance.
 
Not scooter related, but I had a driver who left to make more money.
He became an Uber driver using his sister's Megane.
Said he was making R6k a week.
Knowing him, this is gross, not net ~ they don't know the difference.
Anyhoo, an uninsured white* woman drove into him.
R80k damage.
His sister claimed.
Insurance found out it was being used as an Uber and repudiated the claim.
Not sure how they found out.

* he included this detail in the re~telling.
