You mean the two reported cases on the 29th and 30th of September?

The one that arrived burnt in the shipping box and the other where the battery swelled and cracked the casing apart.
 
My guess is that the recalled phones were tested, repackaged and then redistributed.

No way Samsung has a few million phones lying around to replace nor are they just going to bin the faulty ones and take a financial knock.
 
Just out of curiosity it there some type of ejection "box" on a plane, like you know the space movies where they put an object in the airlock and open the second door to get rid of it?

No, you're stuck with it in the plane with you. I suppose if they could get lower enough it could be chucked out a cockpit window which does slide open.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission are now saying the design of the Note 7 has an inherent design flaw causing damage to the battery.

The chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission was more explicit when his agency announced an official recall on Thursday. He said the phone’s battery was slightly too big for its compartment and the tight space pinched the battery, causing a short circuit.

“Clearly, they missed something,” said Anthea Lai, an analyst with Bloomberg Intelligence. “They were rushing to beat Apple and they made a mistake.”

Yep, this phone may as well be called the Samsung Galaxy Ebola Edition now, Samsung are pretty stupid if they don't just discontinue it, refund all customers and relaunch a redesigned model early next year.

The longer this drags on the more damage is being done to the Galaxy brand name.
 
Fully agree. I still think this whole scenario will make an "excellent" case study in marketing & business courses for yrs to come.

Samsung seem to think they can somehow spin their way through, it's just getting worse and worse press. They don't realise that by the time the average consumer hears the warning from the tech sites it won't be "don't buy a Samsung Note 7" it'll just be "don't buy a Samsung".

Especially as more and more airlines blanket ban all Samsung phones on their flights.
 
It's horrific, now 4 cases of replacement Note7s exploding. One has to wonder how Samsung determined that a phone replacement was safe to go? Utter, mind boggling incompetence.

Samsung has temporarily halted production of its troubled Galaxy Note 7, reports Korean news agency Yonhap. The move follows decisions made on Sunday by multiple carriers, including AT&T and T-Mobile, to stop offering new units as replacements for those affected by the recall.

An anonymous source tells the outlet that the suspension in production is in cooperation with consumer safety regulators from South Korea, and various other countries, and that the measure includes a manufacturing plant in Vietnam that is responsible for global Note 7 shipments.

Samsung Electronics Co. has temporarily suspended production of the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone, an official at a supplier for Samsung said Monday, amid a series of media reports that some Note 7 replacements have caught fire.

The halt is in cooperation with consumer safety regulators from South Korea, the United States and China, the official said on the condition of anonymity.

Samsung began selling the Galaxy Note 7 in August, but in September it recalled 2.5 million units after a number of users reported their phones were catching fire while charging. Affected consumers were issued replacements, but last week reports surfaced that they too are catching fire.
