Count of fire incidents involving safe Galaxy Note 7s grows...carriers suspend sales...Samsung temporarily halts production

In a major development, South Korean media is reporting that Samsung has temporarily halted production of its Galaxy Note7 smartphone.

"The halt is in cooperation with consumer safety regulators from South Korea, the United States and China," said an official at a supplier for Samsung. "This measure includes a Samsung plant in Vietnam that is responsible for global shipments (of the Galaxy Note 7)," they said.

The tech giant's decision to suspend the phablet's production seemingly came after more reports of replacement Note7 units catching fire surfaced this past weekend. The total count of such incidents - at-least in the US - has reached four.

Meanwhile, all the Big Four carriers in the US (as well as Australian carrier Telstra) have also suspended sales of handset.

Do a complete recall, refund and cancel the Note 7 move onto the Note 8.

If someone loses their life due to this they'll be in even bigger dwang.
Note 7 has been tainted, If I had one in the back of my mind I'd always be worried.

Eish this is bad, I so wanted a waterproof note 7 but now it's tainted badly. They should just take them all back and launch a note 7a or something after a couple months of redesigning and proper testing with similar features.

Not a good time for Samsung.

I'm sure they'll bounce back and release a better model soon. Samsung doesn't have a history of making poor quality devices so this should hopefully be an isolated incident.
