I lost my HP Laptops OS dvd... Wondering if HP supplies replacement ones?

Yes, they do... but it's a bit expensive.

1) What model HP Laptop?
2) Do you have a license sticker on the bottom? Does it say what version of Windows you had?

Expensive?
Got a ProBook 4710s, with a license sticker, windows 7 Pro

OK, so you can go to the HP South Africa site and sign up there, then order the replacement DVD... probably a couple of hundred rand.
Or, you can download a Windows 7 Pro OEM disc from the internet and install it and just use that license key to activate (and hope it works).

Ok, I'm a bit retarded. Forgot about the product key at the back. Will get an ISO and use that. Thanks anyway :)

I think it is actually covered by the warranty on the machine. My brother received replacement discs for his 8710p free of charge.

OK, just be warned that the version must match. OEM is the same as a DSP version. That means it is not a retail version (which you can upgrade), but a version that came with the laptop which you can't upgrade later without buying a whole new OS.

Also... not all OEM versions will work with that key, because it is designed to work with the HP recovery discs, but you might get lucky if you just use a Windows 7 Pro OEM disc.

Also, you must use a 32 bit disc if you have 3 gigs of RAM or less and use a 64 bit version if you have 4 Gigs of RAM or more.

I highly doubt it. Not with HP. You are supposed to make your own set of recovery discs using the recovery partition when you buy the laptop. Physical discs you have to pay for.

My notebook did not come with a recovery partition, which I found strange. Just one partition, the OS one. Unless that incorporated the recovery partition.

You bought it new? How long ago? I mean mine from five years ago was the same as yours and came with a physical disc... but the more recent ones don't.

Mine came with a disc but I lost it, hence this post ;)
