I am considering buying a refurbished HP laptop from Takealot - HP is the supplier.
The refurbished laptops are half the price of a new laptop. The laptop I require is an HP elitebook which has the specs required for my job.

Has anyone bought a refurbished HP laptop or know anything about it? Anything to look out for? Yay or Nay?

Thanks.

How do you know HP is the supplier? Takealot is sneaky and it is most likely a 3rd party seller. Happy to be wrong. You will mostly likely also get limited warranty support.

In general there is nothing wrong with buying a refurbished item. Specially if you can still get it with warranty .

Check out https://www.nucleustech.co.za/ or Carbonite and a trusted seller.

As with all things , do your homework.

Make sure you get something 8th Gen core I or newer. 7th Gen and older generally can't update to Windows 11, unless you use a workaround. And there is no guarantee that a future update won't disable it.
Ask here if you don't know what that means.

I doubt that HP is selling directly on takealot. Scroll down on the takealot listing and look for the seller.

Hi,

Thank for everyones advice.
I found a really good deal for a brand new HP Probook 460 G11 for R17k which I bought about 2 weeks ago and am really happy with it. It's perfect for business - I consult for IT companies on retail systems - as I have no power surge issues anymore and works perfectly with my 2 external monitors.

Thanks for the advice.
Regards.
