Hey guys

A two part question:

1)What is the expected price for this front windscreen?

2) Where in Cape Town am I likely to get a good deal on it?

Thanks

Hopefully you are insured, so price is not a problem.

Then let your fingers do the walking and find the phone number of your nearest friendly PG Glass outlet, and they will fit it for you whilst you wait...no CTM Special deals needed.

If you are not insured, same procedure, but it will cost a tad more thatn the R250 that they would have charged you if you were insured.

I am so out of touch with the prices of spares for cars that I almost fell off my chair when I called Glasfit and they calmly said to me it costs R4500!!!. I though it would possibly be cheaper and i could pay cash rather than insurance but hell no.

Try a spares place. I bought a windscreen for my old 1994 Honda Ballade for R500 from Suburban Motor spares in Ottery - this included fitting. I think they just take the glass from wrecks etc.

Best price I could find at the time - other people wanted silly money, 2-3k including fitting.

I had a crack in my 2001 Astra's windscreen from 2005 until earlier this year. I did not want to claim from insurance so I gave these guys a call : http://www.furmanglass.co.za
They drove all the way from Cape Town to Stellenbosch and replaced my windscreen for R700 cash.

I was not sure if it was a good quality windscreen but three days later I was on my way to the airport when a Land River Discovery 3 sped past me and kicked up a rock. With a very loud bang I now have another crack in my new windscreen. Needless to say the windscreen seems to be of good quality and I will not be replacing it for the next 5 years.

Give FurMAN Glass a try, its really convenient.
