Replacing ipad screen

Went to istore today and was told apple does not replace screens and that i need to to a ipad swap. This will cost me R3500 to R4000. Is this true?

But R3500 to R4000 for swap doesn't sound too bad either depends on what you swop for I guess.

I just dont get it why iStore keep keep doing this people.. All they care is to make sales and nothing else! How about advising a client about a screen replacement becouse iStore and Apple knows that the screens can be replaced. For less than a grand for iPad 2.
