Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know how to (or if we even can) report Telkom ADSL users who are being really really bad!!!

I run a small web dev / web hosting business and for the past few days someone has been registering packages on my web hosting and placing phishing content on. I monitor this closely and generally close the accounts within a few minutes.

These are coming from different IPs (as you'd expect), but from what I can tell this person is NOT using a proxy service to hide his IP as the IP Address is a constant location in PTA over the past few days.

I am sure that Telkom, or maybe the banks, would investigate this and I'm sure that given these IP addresses Telkom can say who the IP Address was leased to at that time.

I would imagine that this is a serious criminal offense by this person, I'm just not sure how to report it.

Regards,

John

If I were you, I'd report this issue directly with the banks because they probably have dedicated people investigating this type of stuff!

After all, the bank will (hopefully) try and catch this person because it is their reputation that is at stake at the end of the day...

Good luck! :)

Hi,

Thanks, I'll try the abuse email address, although from my experience Telkom never answers these mails, and there is no evidence that they even check them!

As for the banks, I'm not so sure that they really do care. A few years ago I ran a different business and someone was trying to pay me with what I knew were obviously stolen cheques. I called the bank security to see if they wanted to get this crook as it wasn't just any cheques, it was the banks own "bank gauranteed" cheques.

Anyway, to make a long story short they weren't interested and they also didn't honour any of these cheques, even though they were supposedly bank gauranteed...
