Reporting lost phone as stolen

one of my vodacom contract phones has been missing for a week, I know that it is not stolen. but I would like to block it anyway until I find it. is it possible to block a phone without reporting it as stolen and obtaining a case number from police?

If you mean blocking your sim card from making or receiving calls yes. But you cant technicaly ublacklist your phone..

You could also ask your network operator very nicely if they would please triangulate the location of your device.
It would give you a general idea of where your device is, if it's still on.

Be warned though, it's highly likely they'll say no.

I want to blacklist it. To render it useless on any SIM card.

With GSM yes, not necessarily with GPS.

You must report the lost/destruction of any cellphone or SIM to your police station. You will get a reference no( it will not be a criminal case number) that you must supply your provider with. They will than blacklist your cell and SIM and the will supply you with a ITC reference no as proof of the blacklisting.
