Aaaaah air con, yup that'll explain itAircon.... That thing chomps power. And i can't sleep when hot. Sacrifice i have to make - Pay to be cool.
Another fckup i had was a water leak - 1.5KwH pressure pump ran continuously. Can't hear it - it's on the other side of my garage. I picked up the problem when looking at my usage.
Edit - Still want to put a timer on the borehole pump. The thing can pump during the day.
I just asked my installer to give me quote (for neighbours) for same system R179900 installed.I have similar energy demands.
8KVA Inverter, 2 X 100ah Batteries, 8 X 550W Panels
Everything except the geyser and oven are on the Inverter.
Life carries on as normal, no stress of overload, slight adjustment to habits.
R185k all in
Sounds about right.I

So as everybody advised go for 8kw inverter (if you can stretch) but 10kWh batteries and at least 5kWp panels is non negotiable.
Batteries mostly discharge to 60-65% from 5PM until the next day when the sun starts shining again.I'm not a expert but I can tell you what we have and what we run off it.
1 Vertical fridge
1 Vertical freezer
2 150l geyser (one being assisted with solar flatpanel(
2 microwaves
3 12000btu aircons
2 TV's
Pool pump
Pressure pump
Greywater pump
Electric stove and oven
We run everything off the following
1x 8KW sunsynk inverter
14x 545w solar panels
3x 5kWh batteries
We have prepaid electricity. We dont pay any levies, availability charges etc. Only buy when nessecary. Bought 150kWh unit in July 2022. Still using it and have approx 45kWh available.
We cook and use all the energy hungry equipment when the sun shines.
Dishwasher,Microwaves, kettles we use whenever we want.
Aircons auto shuts off when the battery SOC reaches 75%. But can be switched on again if we want to continue using it.
Keep in mind 15kWh is not enough to let AC run the whole night. We use fans.
Baseload is approx 300w at night when everything idles ie, cctv, alarm, monitors for cctv, fridges and freezers, Network cabinet with routers, switches and outside lights
Now that you mention it.I'm surprised no one has suggested you buy an air fryer yet
I agree with this statementI think start small
Futureproof the system
Get a Hybrid Inverter installed (8KVA) that is upgradable by adding another in parallel if needed
Either install 1 battery for now so that at least you can keep the lights on during loadshedding
Add solar panels later
Add additional battery later

Sounds about right when you include the installationI agree with this statement
8KVA inverter
5KWh battery for now
Should be around R80k if memory serves me right, then you can expand from there

Yes it canhow much would i be saving on eksom bill if i had to prettu much everything solar except for geyser and pool pump
now some people also said i can heat the geyser and run the pool pump with the sun during the day so i can save more

My system:
Advice needed - Solar System
My wife gave the go ahead after I ran the numbers. We are going to get solar. So budget is R135k for equipment and R15k for installation cost. Probably can wring an extra R15k if needed. My next step is to get proper energy use readings. But there is some questions I have: 1. What is the key...mybroadband.co.za
I have 3 fridges, two aircons, a desktop PC always on, 3 tvs (1 an old Sony Bravia 40 LCD) 3 pumps (1 x 950w, 2 x 450w) 1 x 750w pool pump, laptops, monitors etc.
We use the microwave and kettle with no thoughts. My wife did change her habit of doing laundry at 6am to later the morning when the sun is out. 2 washing machines - 13kgs top load.
As I said earlier. Consume most of the electricity when the sun shines. My geysers are on timers and starts heating around 11am - 4:30pm in the afternoons. It's set to heat all the way up to 65 degrees.how much would i be saving on eksom bill if i had to prettu much everything solar except for geyser and pool pump
now some people also said i can heat the geyser and run the pool pump with the sun during the day so i can save more
