Research project - Please help!

1. People do not get old, fat or ugly. All people have hairless bodies. Something is wrong with you if you are not the percfect body size, cause its so easy to be the perfect body shape.

2. B. the articles. Screw the photo shopped girl on front giving me a complex hope she gets a shaggy ass. I only but mags like taste, food and home, nag pc format and Quads and bikes SA.

3. N/A

Hi guys. I'm currently busy with a research project on gender studies.

Was just wondering whether you could answer 3 easy questions for me, as honestly as possible?

1) How are men/women portrayed in the media?

2) What attracts you to a certain magazine on the shelf? a) the cover girl, b) the articles inside that magazine, or c) both

3) FOR MEN ONLY. When buying a magazine, what image would you prefer on the front cover? a) An attractive woman in a bikini, b) A less attractive woman, c) A fully clothed woman, or d) A male in a suit

Thanks for the help

So your mommy found your porn stash under you mattress?

Hmm....lets see....

1) Men are idolized, women are sexualised, sex sells, it's sad, but it sells....

2) I only read PCFormat, and they just happen to have babes on the cover. If i had to choose i would not take notice of the girls and see what articles there are inside...

3) Depends what kind of magazine, if it's a business mag then a man in a suit, if it's PCFormat then it has to have a babe on the cover, otherwise it would not sell to all the pimply teenagers...it really doesn't matter whats on the outside, it's whats inside that i'm buying the mag for....

Honest enough?

Lol, I'm female, so not quite. It really is a massive research project I'm doing to complete my 4th year, nothing else.

1) Men are portrayed as hard working, and spend hours in the office... The media dictates that a modern male must go to gym every day, jog/run, and keep a fit and active life style. They must have a good build too, all this and I good job. The media also reckons that men must be very active with their children (I wonder how men are meant to fit this all in). As for women, they now are now seen as sex symbols, active members of the office and the care givers to the children. However, over the last decade, women have been given a far more active role in the office and work place, the up bringing of the children should preferably be done by the nanny, so that both the mom and dad can work. The media is also starting to make children mature younger, so the mom and dad don't have to look after them for longer, just as long as your 12/13 year old has an Ipod and Levis Jeans they old enough to take care of themselves, this have opened a whole bad of potatoes though, as kids now feel they Adults and they can start to drink/do drugs and watch violent movies...

2)For me, I only read informative articles, I don't care what picture is on the cover... If I have time for a magazine, and I feel I need to brush up on my computing, I'll buy pc format. If i wanna buy a new gun, i'll buy magnum, if i want a car (or want to read about a new car) i'll buy CAR... However, over the past 2-3 years, the internet has grown so rapidly that it's almost not worth my time to buy magazines (Unless I feel I'm in the mood for decent writing, most online articles have accurate facts but crappy writing). So as a modern male, I don't mix work and play, and having a hot, half-naked, whore on the front cover is merely a formality and it serves me no excitement or cause to buy the magazine over another magazine. If the content is decent, then i'll buy it.

3) You asking out of context... If I wanna buy a new car, does it serve me any purpose to have half-naked women over the bonnet of the car? No, i would like to see what the car looks like and read the article. If I was reading mens health, then it's quite essential that they show a man in peak physical health. If I was reading Playboy then it's just idiotic to not have a Naked model on the front cover.

1) IMHO, they are normally portrayed as vibrant, energetic, healthy, young, slim , good looking and sporty, as its often the way most people would like to see themselves. Mass appeal.

2) Considering the only mags i buy are Bike SA, Country Life, Getaway and the odd Outdoor/Camping/4x4 mag, i would have to say the articles.

3) Irrelevant, as it is just marketing, as to what demographic of the population one wishes to appeal to.

1) Photoshopped. Not real. Everyone's pretty and happy. Whenever there's a fat guy somewhere he's usually the funny one

2) c but only if the articles are real. none of this 6 week hard abs ****. that doesn't apply to normal people

3) a through c
