Residential setup advice please

Yeah I know, I'm still on the old inverter and battery mentality :-( I mean I moan at them for putting the kettle on which with 9.6 I shouldn't worry for +-5 hours or so. Bathing is an issue as that is not hooked up to the inverter.

I had PLABSD (post lead acid battery stress disorder) for a quite a while after getting the LFP's  I do still keep an eye on the LFP's, especially at night, since I don't fully trust CoJ to get our electricity back on time and like happened last night there are sometimes only 2 hours between load shedding time slots.

2 hours between slots? You serious? Not seen that, but guess it's possible with slot switching, tonight will be my second 4 hour slot, hopefully all comes back sigh.

Yep, last night we were scheduled for 18:00 - 22:30 and then 00:00 - 02:30, luckily they only had us off from 20:00 - 22:30 but our batteries still didn't get fully charged before 00:00.

So you missed one of them :-(. Yup tonight I'm from 6pm to 10pm, but than next one is 2am but I miss it.

Had that on Thursday.

18h00-10h00 and then 0h00-2h00

Add to it that they normally switch me back 1 hour later I ended up only having power from 23h00-0h00. Power did come back at 1 instead of 2. Was fun, soooo glad I have Lithium.

So last few days, Eskom is not sticking to the schedule, starting LS 30 minutes late and ending 2 hours late.

In our case it is CoJ, they have been erratic at times, so I just keep my batteries full at night and start running them down from 02:00.

Is this for a 2.5 hour outage or for 4 hours?
I think it was for a 2.5 hour session. Cape Town's been spared most of those 4 hour sessions (in my area anyway) so far. I'll have a look how far the Hubble goes down when we do get a 4 hour session.

How much can you afford to spend right now?

You could get something like this to start and then expand

Or this if you need the extra power of an 8kw

To know for sure you need to do an energy audit, understand your peaks and daily draw
Dunno, maybe its just me but how long do you have to run a genny to get to a R80k/R90k spend?

You'd have to run 12l generator 288 times to empty.
