I am very happy to see the April 1st announcement materialise into something real. As much as I am happy with Ron Gilbert running its development, I think they might tweak the original adventure recipe too much by the publisher's request to better represent the product to a new market. Adventure/puzzle games don’t sell nearly as good as they did in the 90s/early 2000s, Grim Fandango was the last real success story. There are some, but small exceptions.

Monkey Island is a big deal, it is an IP which still real value. I HOPE that Toybox use Thimbleweed Park as a basis and improve thereon.

Trying to figure out how they can ruin this with towers and loot boxes

I believe it will all depend on the publisher, you know, it might have mini-games... but Toybox published Thimbleweed Park themselves, but that was a new IP. The Monkey Island IP on the other hand has real interest, and there will be developers stepping up to get their share, where it will allow more money and better marketing, it impacts the creative aspect.

It is good to see that Ron Gilbert wants to give closure to Monkey Island 2 because Monkey Island 3 isn't a true continuation, and neither was the 3D short series canon.

However, for X number of Dollars you can pay for more clicks

Was expecting a nice racist thread about putting people on an island. Oh well, carry on.

I still think there is a market for these sort off games. Just the re-playability will be an issue unless you have multiple endings or something similar

The last one I played was Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure. Was pretty good too.

This teaser is likely to be the art style, it is original, but modern,

however, I have seen announcements like these which has departed from what was originally advertised.

Hey, it's Murray!

So this game takes place after MI2 I think but Murray makes his first appearance in MI3 when he loses his body...
