Got a text from revco that the outstanding amount I owe to sars for a late submission penalty (2020) has been handed to them the amount is R2750 anyone had dealings with these guys is it safe to ignore this?

I got a similar spam warning from "SARS"

Called my tax man and they confirmed my tax was paid months ago.

Check your sars account first.

The rule of thumb with debt collectors, as @epah has often mention...

NEVER PAY THEM. Find out if you did actually miss/forget or whatever and pay the person you actually owe the money to.

You can cc them on a proof of payment, but don't pay their account.

SARS collect money themselves, can even just pull it from your bank account if they want, so SMS is likely a scam or similar.

My good man, a quick Google search revealed you're being phished or scammed.

Their website doesn't say they work for SARS which would be at top of their client list.

Send them a screenshot so they can block the number wich will change of course but "RICA" will protect you....................

log into eFiling, it's free and easy... the logging in part, the rest of the website has been designed by a brain dead gerbil.

you need to hunt around on all your past returns and notices from SARS and see if you have any "fines"

you can check your "status" and it tells you whether you are compliant or not, but half the time it says you're all ok but there are still fines due. It's pathetic but it is there.... somewhere
