hi there

wrt RF cable, what is the difference between the old-school style that you plug into the back of a TV/VCR and the new-school style that you plug into the back of your DSTV decoder (satellite cable)

I'm a bit confused

do you mean the connectors? The new ones are waaay better then the old type ones.

and you get connectors that you screw on to the new type to plug into your tv.

no no, I know that the connectors are different, Im asking about the cable.

Is the cable the same??

afaik yes. I use the same white ellies coax for RF distrubution and to connect my LNB to decoder.

There are lots of variations of RF cable but you are looking for 75 Ohm CoAx cable for LNB and RF tv feeds.

This answers all my questions. Not all cable created equally and would explain a lot of issues I see at peoples houses.

All RG6 cable currently available from all suppliers will be spec'ed for RF as well as IF. The older RF only cable (from 15+ years ago) had less screening and braiding.
