RHCSA and RHCE certifications

Hi all,

I 'was' RHCSA certified and never got around to doing my RHCE before the RHCSA expired. I think I already know the answer, but I was hoping someone can confirm...

The question: Does my RHCSA need to be current in order to become RHCE certified?

Yep. You need to be a current RHCSA to upgrade to RHCE.

Thanks for the reply guys. I assumed as much and Red Hat Training also confirmed it..>

Eish... 3 years go by so quickly...suppose it's better to just keep going upwards.

For those that care, here is the official response from Red Hat

Thank you for your E-mail.

We would like to inform you that as your RHCSA certification expired earlier in the year (13 July 2015) you need to retake the RHCSA exam before you prepare for RHCE. RHCSA should be active if you are preparing for RHCE.

You can enroll in and take the RHCE exam without first having passed the RHCSA exam, but RHCE certification will not be issued until both credentials are earned by you. In the event that you have not yet earned RHCSA, Red Hat will retain the candidate's RHCE exam record and will attach that record to a candidates' RHCSA record once it is earned at a later date.
