RICA doomed for failure?

I refuse to partake in this violation of liberties, I blame the networks more than the government though.. If I choose a service I hand over my details to the provider knowing that if it violates it's terms or allows my private info into the wrong hands I can take my business elsewhere.. but when it says I need to hand over my details to an agency outside it's control where do I go? all networks will do the same, I'm left without a choice.

Therefore I say NO! to RICA and everyone should not comply to teach the networks a lesson for not protecting and respecting our privacy. This behavior is why Communism failed in Europe.

That's not even the biggest FAIL - even if they did have every single correct address - who cares? it's not going to stop criminals anyway....

how on earth is this going to stop a ATM Bombing, A Gas station Stick-up, a Hi-jack or a Murder ?

only way is if he leaves his cellphone at the ATM/Gas Station/Give it to the hijacked person/Leave it on the body.
 
The worst case senario is someone forging a sim with your details and then one day you discover your number has been disconnected with no alternative but to get a new sim and number, criminals win again!

Does this mean that jailbreaking iPhone's is now officially illegal?
 
I don't really think they're going to come and bust me for jailbreaking, just like I don't think they're going to fine you R2 million for misplacing your SIM card.

It's more that it's just another area that allows RICA to classify you as a criminal for what is fairly innocuous behaviour, if "they" needed something to get you on.

Putting the "U" back into "RICA"

Okay, calling investors... My plan is to develop vending machines in malls branded "uRica".

Users just have to punch in their name and city, feed it a tenner, and they get a snazzy letterhead from my community establishment with their name on it. Then I pay somebody on the other end of a phone to say "yes, he's a very upstanding member our our community... sings in the choir, in fact... yes, it's a verrrry big choir".

Offset the cost of production and power consumption (and our telephone operator) vs R10 x 20 million and we could make a nice little profit.

After the issues I had with FICA (not owning a house or having any clothing accounts), I think this would be a big plus for the nation as a whole, would help expedite the process and would help create jobs.

Seeing as this is the real deal law in SA legislated by a democratically elected parliament I am assuming that you are referring to a class of people mentioned by German General Kurt von Hammerstein-Equord

It won't be a failure from government's perspective. Anything that gives them more powet and less oversight is a victory for them.
