I'm in America right now, I went passed a Barnes and Nobles and found a book that speaks about why America is a fading superpower, its main argument was it losing its Christian values and multiculturalism. :confused: Fox News recently chastised Obama for not thanking God in his Thanksgiving speech. It's ridiculous. Separation of church and state means SEPARATION of church and state, that includes non-private schools! I still don't see why you don't have a problem with this! The ONLY time you are allowed to have this point of view is a private school, a non government funded nor sanctioned entity where the church and state are not mixed.

If he wants to go to radical theocratic America then yes I am of course against that. However as I pointed out earlier, it is really unconstitutional for the federal government to have a board of education, the responsibility much lie with the states, according to their constitution. So the entire thing is flawed.

The separation of learners according to religion, where the observance takes place outside of the context of a school assembly, and with equitably supported opportunities for observance by all faiths, and appropriate use of the time for those holding secular or humanist beliefs;

Rotation of opportunities for observance, in proportion to the representation of different religions in the school;

Selected readings from various texts emanating from different religions;

The use of a universal prayer; or

A period of silence.

Other forms of equitable treatment may be developed which are consistent with this policy and applicable legislation. Where the segregation of pupils is contemplated, a school must consider and mitigate the impact of peer pressure on children, and its negative influence on the willingness of children to be identified as "different".

A school assembly has the potential for affirming and celebrating unity in diversity, and should be used for this purpose. Public schools may not violate the religious freedom of pupils and teachers by imposing religious uniformity on a religiously diverse school population in school assemblies. Where a religious observance is included in a school assembly, pupils may be excused on grounds of conscience from attending a religious observance component, and equitable arrangements must be made for these pupils.

The thing with this new crop of harebrained morons is that they have to appeal to a certain group of people. Smart people? Nope, Obama's got that. Young people? Nope, Obama's got them. Black people? Yeah... I don't think so. Mexicans? Nope. Religious conservative morons who care more about a person's religion than his ideas/intellect...? Hey, I think we're onto something!

Well, they did go to the moon ( apparently ;) - that was quite impressive.

Woodstock happened there as well.

Militarily...hmm, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Gulf, Somalia .... didn't do so well.

At least the English seldom refer to 'Great' Britain which it isn't any more.

Perhaps it's time the Americans referred to just 'The States of America' because they are hardly United anymore.

Tell me, is it because they lost their "Christian ideals?".
Was the USSR Christian? What about the Roman Empire? I'm pretty sure they went down the tubes after becoming Christian.
Did the Spanish or the British Empire collapse because of the loss faith? Or does it have to more so with the changing dynamics of the world and law of economics?

Mate I could write you a whole essay on why empires collapse or decline, and trust me, it has fsck all to do with faith or Christian ideals.

UPDATE (CORRECTION): As has been pointed out, Justin Bieber's "Baby" is clearly the most disliked YouTube video ever, with over 2 million dislikes. The wrong comparison was made between Black and Perry's videos because the original "Friday" (which was briefly the most disliked video) was taken down and reposted as a new video.

Rick Perry's controversial anti-gay ad, titled "Strong," has officially upset people.

The reaction has actually been so negative that the posting of the ad on YouTube has just achieved the record for the most dislikes on a single video. The clip surpassed Rebecca Black's now infamous "Friday" music video to claim the top spot as YouTube's most hated video.

Currently, Perry's video has approximately 300,000 "dislikes," while Black's has a little over 253,000. However, at this point, while over 10 million people have viewed "Friday," only about 750,000 have viewed Perry's ad, meaning a stagering 40 percent of viewers have not only disapproved of the spot, but openly expressed their dislike online.

Needless to say, the Perry campaign isn't happy. Their previous ad "Faith" is also posted on YouTube, doesn't prominently display the "Likes" versus "Dislikes" count, and still has over 25,000 "dislikes."

As Taegan Goddard of Political Wire tweeted yesterday Perry is wearing the same jacket in his anti-gay ad as the late Heath Ledger wore in Brokeback Mountain. Is this a subliminal message that Perry identifies with that movie? If so, maybe there is someone out there who can collect this million-dollar reward.
