Rift....anyone planning to play

Anyone out there planning to play Rift? apparently you can head start on the 24 Feb 2011...currently downloading the Beta Client now (had to pre-order to get access to it).

one of the things i like that's being offered in Rift is that you can play on both European serves and US servers (only need one product key).
 
Pre-ordered on steam. Guess I'll haveta get the beta client too cause it doesn't seem like steam will make a client avail before March (for the early access).
 
I agree that playing US + EURO is a real plus as you can pick the timezone that is best at the time for server population. I played beta, and really enjoyed it and will play retail. It kind of feels like a WOW + WAR fused together.

I think graphically RIFT is superb, and they have managed to pretty much large scale pve without too much of an issue - granted it does need some bandwidth.

It has been a bit difficult to get used to the "theme" of rift, as it does not generally follow your typical wow, lotr, war universe so it is kindof alien but works quite well and unique in its own way.

To me however, I am not too keen on the class system. Although indicating some best class pairing while creating your char does tend to leave you with a sense of non-identity. Would like some defined classes.

I have some concern right now about the dependency on server population and the need for groups in public quests. Something that plagued WAR a lot.
 
Been playing the beta since beta5, stopped leveling last week when I hit lvl37 as I didn't want to go grindmode just a week before early access to reach max lvl42.

If the retail servers use the same server names as the beta, I'll be playing on Icewatch EU as a Cleric.

I've really enjoyed my time in the beta, it's by far the most polished MMO beta I've seen to date.

dang.. most people I've seen in one spot in an MMORPG yet and the game was extremely smooth and polished.
They just need to add more servers ;) There where queues of 15hours+ and 5000+ people waiting on some servers. I think the shortest wait I've seen was for an hour.
I was lucky to enter a new server they brought up while I was still looking through the server list.

I got lucky too, was able to log in soon as they started opening. played 2 hours, logged off and about an hour later to check the wait and i was told 3 hours on belmont. Went to bed :)

i see the servers aren't so bad during the day, but that also could be that most of USA was still sleeping and then heading off to work/school.....i wonder what it's going to be like this year?

overall, i am enjoying the game immensely. i like the public group options for the Rift events. but dang.....at one point this morning, it seems like there was 50 rifts going on!
 
I just got Rift, it looks awesome I enjoy the gameplay too. Just need to find which servers have SA players on. I prefer PVP servers to PVE, if anyone has any suggestions.
 
I'll wait to see if this becomes another Aion hype poo fest.
