RIM backing itself for big return

As I said in another thread Vodafone should buy RIM and take over BIS/BES and BBM. With BB so strong in SA Vodacom will benefit.

While i never liked blackberries, if they do come back better, it will be good for the industry all round - a little bit of competition never ever hurt the consumer :)

Throughout the session Heins was adamant that RIM’s best path forward was the BlackBerry 10, even if the strategic review now underway concludes that a sale of the company makes the most sense. RIM has said it is examining all options, including partnerships, joint ventures or a break-up of the company.

Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead!

Check the Vodacom smartphone figures January next year... People are moving away from BB at a massive pace! With Android mopping them up and Apple gaining as well, I honestly don't know who they're going to try sell the BB10s to.

I guess if you not tied to Android, your chances of making a comeback are very slim.

It will be good to have continued competition from Nokia and RIM in the mobile market, but I'm not holding out much hope for RIM's prospects.
If they can really catch up from how far behind they have gotten, it will be a pretty amazing thing.

BB10 is a very promising OS, it reminds me of the brilliant Maemo/Meego that Elop stupidly killed.

I am hoping RIM survives but it doesn't look good at all. If they do pull through then the N (Bold) phone with the new OS is number one on my shopping list.

To anyone who would even consider buying RIM stock at this point:
I am writing in behalf of my deceased benefactor, Sir Thomas Lords, who left an estate currently valued at $22.5million without an heir. Upon realizing that you shared a surname with him, I have construed a plan to depose the funds in your account until such time as you and I can share the moneys. Psalms 41:3.

It's just big in SA, that's the thing. The rest of the world doesn't give a crap because they can use Skype, Whatsapp, SMS and so on because they don't pay R2/MB or R1/SMS, they have uncapped or high-use contracts, so they prefer something a little more modern.

Hehe, totally. You'd have to be pretty damn gullible to think everything is just going to magically turn around just because the CEO said so. It would be like buying SANRAL shares, if we were allowed to.
