RIP, never watched much that he was in but he was good as far as I remember

I started watching this video just to listen to the theme song. I am now busy with episode 6....
Haha was inevitable. The sheer nostalgia of these old series. I'm 35 but grew up watching many of these as a child probably not even really understanding what was going on.

Ja, I remember watching this series with my family, but apart from remembering one or two characters, it is like watching it for the first time. Can't remember any of the stories, etc. What I can say, is that I am enjoying it. Pretty good show. Great acting, especially from George Ballot. Quite sure the show wouldn't have been such a success without his portrayal of the character.

There is something comforting about watching a show and seeing the cars, clothes, hairstyles, houses, furniture, etc, that I remember from my early childhood. On the other hand, there is something disturbing about seeing the weird world that were the apartheid times. Only white prisoners, only white wardens, only white cops, Afrikaans signs only.

But the memories the show brings back is less the show itself. There were only a few shows where the entire family came together to watch a show, like Vyfser, Ballade vir 'n enkeling, Namakwalanders, and it is those memories that bring on the nostalgia. Me snug between my grandparents, both who've been gone for decades now.

Throw in Konings too, but I do agree with your comments.
