RIP HP Sauce / Heinz

South Africans love All Gold Tomato sauce, but there are a number of us that have a particular preference for Heinz Tomato Ketchup, making it an ongoing debate about which one is the best. Sadly, this debate will soon come to an end as Heinz Tomato Ketchup will no longer be available in South Africa.

Mandy Murphy, Managing Executive Foods for PepsiCo SA, told Food24 that Pioneer Foods had been procuring, distributing and selling Heinz Ketchup in South Africa under licence from Kraft Heinz, the fifth-largest food and beverage company in the world. The licence for South African distribution expired at the end of May 2020 and has not been renewed.

It's easy to tell the difference. The one tastes awesome and other one tastes like dog turds.
Exactly

Might as well lick the lounge carpet after your neighbours dogs have had a 3some on it and 1 of them sharted when they're got too excited !!!!

Shocked by how many people on this forum do not know that ketchup and tomato sauce are NOT the same thing.
"Ketchup is made with tomatoes, sugar, vinegar/acetic acid and spices. Whereas, tomato sauce is made from tomatoes, oil, meat or vegetable stock and spices. It never uses vinegar. ... To make it simpler, ketchup is made with a variety of spices while the sauce is generally made without spices" - Google

Clearly, Ketchup is the superior one.

Isn't HP sauce just a more condiment friendly version of Worcestershire sauce?

Man, HP sauce... there's a shop in Milnerton, UK Emporium, that will surely keep stocking HP Sauce... but that price is going to go up. They sell Pringles, the original big chips in the tube, for something like 50 bucks.

The prices at the UK Emporium (the one on the East Rand) are actually quite reasonable I was surprised.

Months back when they had stock they were selling 600g HP Sauce for R81. They import it themselves and its cheaper than our retailers sell it
