One thing I never understood about Saab, how did they ever make huge mistakes, and nobody noticed?

Were the cars that good?

So people ignored the faults, and brought them, as they were cool?

I mean lancia made some rusty sh**t cars , and nobody brought any,

how did Saab manage to beat Lancia?

No, the cars were great.

Then GM bought Saab and tried to make them more popular, which just diluted their great engineering advantage.

Basically by the end, the 9-3 was just an Opel Astra underneath.

Pity they went under, as they had some amazing hybrid stuff in the works, way ahead of anyone else.

But when GM cut them loose, there was no more money for development.

Would have been nice if SAAB was taken over by a company that wasn't American, they would have still been in existence today.
