RIP Wilbur Smith

I have read most of his books as a child.

Man was a legend, a true writer to the core.

He will be very sorely missed.

He had a good formula for his stories and the research was very good

Many US crime authors mimiced this formula and it is taught as a part of a Creative Writing course in several universities

Slightly OT, I know... It's been years since I read a book and I am keen to read one of his books when I go on holiday in a week's time.

It would seem as though some of his books are in chronological order. Is that correct or can I just choose any of his books to start reading without detracting from the experience?

Anyway, RIP to him. That's a good age, though.

Some of his books are close together, chronologically speaking. Books like Rage and dealing with the Courtneys and such can be read in that order, but often there are generational differences between the books and the families, so you can read most of them in any order.

Books were pretty bland, in my opinion - the 13 yr old male market appears to be the target.

But he was a good person and clearly had a love for this country. I respect him for that.

Yes, some of his books run in series. It's normally listed on the index page of any of his books.

RIP
Your books were a much needed escape for me during very difficult times in my young life. My favourite author of all time, and your characters became like my family.

Thank you

Ok, thank you.

Wasn't really a fan of his work

Sister and SO loved his stuff. Mind you they both have no taste so there's that.

Had a good innings and a solid fulfilling life.

Been years since I read one of his books but always enjoyed them. Especially the ones set in SA.

I'm obviously biased because I enjoyed his books, but I don't think they were bad at all.

What I am surprised at is how popular they became. His genre was pretty narrow.
