Road Accident Fund facing financial collapse

You claim from your insurance.

Great. What if I'm part of the % of the population that can barely survive a month as it stands. Where will the to afford this insurance come from please? Or will this be another initiative founded by the government where everyone pays a portion of the "insurance" and it comes out of taxes..

Starting to sound a lot like the RAF.

Yea, no idea how to answer this one

Well played!

Haha! Just thinking to the accidents where the Taxi driver just jumps out of the vehicle and runs away. Although, I suppose in that case they can sue the taxi owner.

So 1 taxi get's hit, 12 people claim? So 1 person paid RAF "tax" and 12 people claims?

Yea.. that kite will fly.

ps. When I was in PTA court (for other reasons).. there were litterly thousands of RAF claims being handled (the board showed the cases). I would guess that 95% was RAF, and the rest was other...

Why do they always have to get special treatment? Why is it always the few that have to try keep the most afloat? It starts to get to a point, you can only tax people so much before they break.

What are they doing with the R1 something they are getting from us with every litre of petrol spent???

That is classified (but you can visit Dubai to see some of what it bought).

Using it to fund Mercedes Benz vehicles for well-connected comrades... paying for huge KFC orders... supplies of booze at ANC rallies... the list is endless..

Bunch of useless noobs in power in this country! I cannot stand the level of incompetence, greed, secrecy, abuse and whatever other word happening in this country. It is absolutely disgusting hey.

Can we just take a second to stare at the more than 200 000 claims in a year. This is a staggering amount of accident affected people.

Something must be done to improve road behaviour (the correct measures, not AARTO).

Beautiful questions. Just making the case for the RAF. I despise it as much as the next person - but I did see its worth when our gardener had his legs run over, granted, he was drunk and had his legs in the road at the time, but it did provide him with a decent amount to allow him to settle bills and stuff. This was years ago though, before they went bankrupt.

Start by holding the taxi bosses accountable for the actions of their "employees". If a driver of a vehicle of which you own the registration commits any form of law breaking - you should be held accountable as if you committed that offence yourself.

These fsckers are getting away with everything, and so the average motorist has taken to breaking the same laws. Cause nothing happens to them..

And promptly execute every law enforcement officer found to be guilty of bribery or corruption. Apply that upwards in the chain as well. Not jail time or the like, I would say jail time, but we're out of space, and we need these scum to go away.

They've been broke a long long time.

Get rid of the RAF and reduce fuel price by 30%

If you think all these failings are bad, wait until NHS comes into the fold.
