I nearly had an accident head collision with
navy blue Toyota Fortuna as usually the taxi in front of me stopped without any warning. I shifted and try to over take the taxi here comes a navy blue Toyota Fortuna the idiot didn't switch on his/her lights. The road rules say after 18:00 we should switch on our car lights, so other drivers can be aware of you. Tjerr and to think today is my first day with King Price imagine if I had to claim on first day.

Fortuna / taxi > Rules of the road

So basically you didn't see the other car?

Ps. Lights depend on lighting conditions on the day.

I wish they'd make daytime running lights mandatory on all new cars, at least you can then see a car approaching in the dark...

Glad you are still alive OP.

Is this King Price as in you have a company car or King Price as in you have your own car unrelated and are insured with them?

Ramodiana, contrary to what you're saying, this was not the Toyota Fortuner's fault. If you were driving defensively you would have immediately been on alert while driving behind a taxi, waiting for it to stop. Then you would have slowed down and stopped if necessary, until you could see past the taxi and ensure that it was safe (and not proceeding until you have visibility - the responsibility is yours!). From the way you've written it, it sounds like the taxi stopping caught you unawares and you swerved into the oncoming lane without checking properly, so whether or not the headlights were on on the Fortuner was completely irrelevant. Sound about right?

The taxi stopped I also slowed down and I swerve into oncoming but if the were lights I would have stopped because when you over take you have to check first before jumping into the other lane. So if the were lights I could have seen the is a car coming. I can be wrong but the lights from the Toyota could have helped me. But I guess you learn something new everyday.

King price I'm insured with them first premium went off today.

Yup, you did. Moral of the story is just *always* assume the car in front of you is about to do something stupid, and there is an oncoming car you can't see. You'll drive a lot safer immediately, trust me. It's so worth it: far less risk of head-on collisions and no "If only" game in the case of an accident. Good luck and safe driving out there!

Not sure where you dug that one out of.
Glad you are OK though.

If I remember correctly after 18:00 in the evening car lights should be on. Also when you drive in a rain car lights should be on. Correct me maybe I'm wrong

There is no time (it would be completely stupid), it's from sunset to sunrise.

Yikes, be careful OP. I can't imagine your brio would have put up much of a fight against a Fortuna in a head on collision.

Yes and no. They help at certain times when dipped beams are needed, but then idiots don't put their dipped beams on when need as "the car's lights are always on".

I use my park lights for this, especially late in the afternoons but before sunset.

As others have said it's between dusk and dawn. In summer the sun sets very late on our western side and rises early on the eastern side so that rule would not make any sense.

Faint park lights which can hardly be seen are on at 50m away? :crylaugh:

It's actually illegal to drive with park lights on at any time due to how useless they are.

Yeah so we'll have more retards using them AT NIGHT without realising the rear lights don't switch on with DRL's in most cars.

OP : There is no road rule that states lights need to be on at 18:00 exactly, because as seasons change 18:00 isn't really a valid value. What it does say is that lights should be one when the sun has gone down...but people are idiots.

And FFS people it's a FORTUNER with an R at the end.

Not a ****ing fish.
